Try before you buy the ViewSonic ViewPad 7

ViewSonic is offering a free trial of its ViewPad 7 Android tablet - so you can test the device out to see if you're ready to take the tablet plunge.

James Coulson, European marketing manager, ViewSonic, said: "There are many people that have heard about the new Tablet trend but for various reasons have not yet dived in. Working with Google, we want people to have a good first tablet experience, risk free.

"Customers taking up the offer can use our devices for 30 days free of charge in order to overcome any initial learning curves and really start to appreciate the potential of Android on a great device. The ViewPad 7 is a perfect start into the world of touch technology."

The ViewPad 7 is a 7-inch Android 2.2 tablet, with a 800x480 display, powered by a Qualcomm MSM7227 processor, clocked at 600MHz, with 512MB of RAM.

It only has 512MB of internal memory, so you’ll need a memory card - up to 32GB via microSD is supported. There's also a SIM slot.

Around the back is a 3-megapixel camera and a 0.3-megapixel forward-facing camera is also present for video calls.

So, is ViewSonic right to be so confident that you'll like the ViewPad 7?

We're not so sure. The tablet scored a respectable 7 out of 10 in Pocket-lint's comprehensive review, but is in direct competition, price and size-wise, with the original Samsung Galaxy Tab - which is now on sale for less than £300.

It won't cost to find out if it's right for you though. Simply buy a ViewPad 7 from one of ViewSonics recommended retail partners and if you don't like it, send it back within 20 days for a full refund. ViewSonic will even pay for the postage.

Check out all the T&Cs at viewpadtryforfree.com. The campaign runs throughout April 2011.
