Panasonic launch new Lumix DMC-FZ48

Panasonic has announced its latest bridge camera, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ48 - the update to last year's FZ45.

Panasonic continues to push out new cameras in its Lumix range and the new DMC-FZ48 looks like a cracker. Not only does it have optical zoom that would make a paparazzo jealous, it can capture video at 1080p too.

Like the Lumix G3, Panasonic has bless the Lumix DMC-FZ48 with the ability to capture 1080p video., Unlike the G3, with the FZ-48 you will be able to capture that quality video from way, waaaay over there somewhere thanks to the 24x optical zoom.

Full manual controls are also present in order to alter the likes of shutter speed and aperture, as well as the Intelligent Auto mode that appears on other Lumix fixed and removable lens models. With the Venus Engine FHD handling the image processing alongside Intelligent Resolution and Intelligent Zoom magnification can be boosted past the 24x onto 32x.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ48 also offers a single lens 3D mode, which takes 20 images at different focal lengths in order to create a three dimensional end product. Alongside the impressive 1080p HD video mode, which uses the AVCHD codec, the Lumix FZ48 looks set to be a rival for the likes of Nikon's Coolpix P500 and the Canon Powershot SX30IS.
